Greetings Lords, Ladies, and everyone in and out of the between! Welcome to the actors packet and casebook for the Spring 2024 UWL production of Orlando! Here will be the home for all things research and resources compiled by your Dramaturg - Anna Halvorsen.
This website will be updated weekly to provide any new information that gets pulled during the rehearsal process and design meetings. If you have any questions you'd like help with that aren't provided on this website, feel free to reach out to Anna with any questions! I will pull as many resources as I can to find the answers that you need. I hope that this website provides you with a plentiful amount of resources and information!
WAIT... WHAT IS DRAMATURGY?
As your Dramaturg, my job is to help give you one of the most important things: CONTEXT!
I provide research, resources, and information to help actors, the director, and the designers. I also help provide context for our future audience.
I dig to find historical, cultural, and scientific resources in the depths of the internet to help solve the answers to your questions.
I provide notes on production history, playwright information, historiography, socio-cultural info, and any other background research to answer questions that you may have.
I help the actors understand the world of the play through the information that I compile.
Essentially, I give you the building blocks to help you create ideas and choices. Note that I don't directly give you the choices that you should make but I rather give you the starting pieces for you to make your own creative decisions!
