The Playwright
The playwright of Secret In The Wings is Mary Zimmerman, well known for being a director and adapter. She's currently an ensemble member of the Lookingglass Theatre Company and a performance studies professor at Northwestern University in Illinois.

Zimmerman is known for directing adaptations of literature. Notable works of hers include the following:

The Odyssey (1999) (An adaptation of the Greek tale of Homer's Odyssey, describing Odysseus' struggle returning home from the Trojan War.)

The Arabian Nights (1994) (An adaptation of Scheherazade telling her husband cliffhanger stories across 1,001 nights to prevent him from murdering her.)

The Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci (1994) (The script of this play is entirely made out of the words from Leonardo da Vinci's notebooks.)

Secret In The Wings Production History
Secret in the Wings opened on February 7th, 1991, produced by the Lookingglass Theatre Company at Chicago Filmmakers in Chicago, Illinois.

In 2003, Lookingglass Theatre Company created a revised version of Secret In The Wings at the Water Tower Water Works. Our script is the 2003 version, with the names of the characters in the script being the names of the 2003 cast. Cast members include Laura Eason, Tony Fitzpatrick, Raymond Fox, David Kersnar, Louise Lamson, Philip R. Smith, Heidi Stillman, Tracy Walsh, and Andrew White. The music for "Song of the Three Blind Queens" was also composed for this version by cast member Laura Eason.

Secret In The Wings was then performed again in the falls and winters of 2004 and 2005 with the same designers of the 2003 production. This version was in a coproduction by Berkeley Repertory Theatre. It was performed in the McCarter Theatre in Princeton, new Jersey, and the Seattle Repertory Theatre.
